Some nice things people have said over the years...

wp7b19ae98_0f.jpg

A couple of songs to kick off with...

Rom’mu - my setting of a piece of liturgy with a bit of a different slant on the rhythm and harmony...

Star (for Emma) - written for my niece's Bat Mitzvah in 2008.

A Viglid - Yiddish lullaby, poem by Tsile Dropkin, music by me

Come in Peace - written a few years ago for a welcoming service.

The above 3 pieces are from my most recent CD, ‘gathering’ (see MUSIC for more info)

There Will Be Time (recorded live on Resonance Radio, April 2009)

All the songs are copyright to me, so it would be great if you'd send people here to listen to them rather than copying them :-)

So...

You may or may not know that Judith works across a range of styles, in all sorts of different contexts.

One - the one that started her off on this musical journey, in many ways - is what you might call her 'singer/songwriter' or acoustic bit. Her first album, 'The Day Will Dawn Again' gives you some of that - as do elements of 'moonchild', released in 2005.

Then there's her work with harmony singing, including the songs from around the world that she teaches at her workshops and sings whenever possible with whoever's willing... and the harmony songs she composes. The trio Anam.Cara, in which Judith sang for ten years  with Angela Reith and Maggie Newlands, has this work at its core, as did the 4-piece a capella group she sang with from 2006 to 2010, Far Flung Voices with co-members of the Natural Voice Practitioners' Network (NVPN), Sue Parlby, Jenny Goodman and Sarah Harman.

In October 2008, Judith became the Director of the World Music Choir at SOAS (School of African and Oriental Studies, University of London). Hear them on the MUSIC page...

And she also writes, teaches and performs Jewish music - in Hebrew, Yiddish and English.

Her performances usually include elements of all of the musical types above, plus a helping of jazz, folk, music hall... or whatever seems appropriate.

Recent news: in December 2010, Judith visited New York to participate in the Shalshelet Festival.  Two of her compositions were selected for inclusion, for live performance and as part of a songbook and CD that have just been released.  Hooray!  See some of what happened at http://www.youtube.com - my channel is moonchild274
